Each leaf is collected by hand in the fall of the year. These leaves are then sorted into sizes, i.e. pairs for earrings, larger leaves for sun catchers etc., and then carefully pressed and dried. Once the leaf is prepared with its backing, it is crafted into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of art, preserved in a hard transparent protective coating.
All backings are surgical steel. The necklaces are gold or silver plated and 18 in length.
All products are card mounted. The smaller items such as the single pins, earrings, stick pins, necklaces and tie tacks are on a match book style card which enables them to be displayed either hanging or standing. After purchase, the card can be inverted to protect the item while in transit. The larger items such as the magnets, suncatchers, key chains, double pins and barrettes are on a larger card that supports its size. The suncatcher has an additional small hang tag so the item can be removed from the card and hung for display allowing it to still be identified. See more on display cards with the "Diplay" link under this panel.
These hand crafted maple leaf items are very popular with our seasonal leaf peepers who visit our state during fall foliage. They are affordable, easily transported and truly represent Vermont. Don't forget sugaring season and maple syrup sales as these items can sell hand in hand.
